Value of Time

4valueoftimeObjectives: Working as a subcontractor to the Jacobs Engineering Group, EurekaFacts was tasked with determining the value of time of motorists, a key input into the traffic and toll revenue study for the I-95 Express Toll Lanes proposed by the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA). The objective of this effort was the gauge perceptions of motorists on their own estimations of value and time and their perceptions and stated intentions toward the use of the Express Toll Lanes under various conditions.

Method: This project utilized a mixed mode data collection approach to secure a representative sample of motorists using the section of I-95 under consideration. The methods used included notification postcards, online surveys, and Computer Assisted Telephone Interview (CATI) data collection.

Outcome: The resulting information was delivered to MDTA offering strong fact-based information with regard to the willingness of motorists to pay certain toll fees along the I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLs) in Maryland along the section of I-95 under consideration during both peak and off-peak times.
